ELMIRA- The Chemung County Department of Aging and Long Term Care announces they are seeking applications for two important awards that recognize the businesses, organizations and volunteers who serve our community and improve the lives of all ages. These awards will be presented at our Older Americans Month Celebration on Monday, May 1st.
Senior Citizen of the Year Awards will be presented to two Chemung County residents, age 60 or older, for ongoing devotion of time and talent to make a great impact on others, without pay or compensation. Nominees may volunteer in a variety of areas or concentrate on just one. All qualified nominees will be recognized at the Older Americans Month Celebration. Award recipients will be selected by the Department of Aging Advisory Councilís Older Americans Month Committee. Nomination forms are due by March 15th, 2017.

Age-Friendly Business and Organization Designation Awards will be presented to Chemung County businesses and not-for-profit organizations that apply by March 1st and meet established criteria to provide easy-to-navigate, respectful, positive and effective experiences and services to our community, and support the vision of Chemung County as a community that encourages active and healthy living. A panel of representatives from the Age-Friendly Chemung County Coalition will review the applications, make on-site visits, and select those that meet the criteria described in the attached application form. Applications are due by March 1st, 2017.
