Holiday Events Planned in Downtown Elmira

Elmira- It’s almost that time of year again! What better way to kick off the Holiday season in Elmira than with the annual Downtown Window Decorating Contest, “Home for the Holidays” Tree Lighting Celebration, Annual Downtown Elmira Holiday Parade, Free Skating at First Arena and Breakfast with Santa. 

Tuesday, November 22, 2016 from 5:30 – 7:00 PM “Home for the Holidays” Tree Lighting Celebration in Wisner Park.  Event festivities will begin at 5:30 PM with traditional activities and crafts. There’s something for everyone in the family including; a book from Tedd Arnold to the first one hundred children that attend, holiday refreshments, Christmas carolers, homemade holiday wreaths, holiday trees for sale from the Boy Scouts Troop 43 and letters to Santa from our little elves - Brownie Troop 60466 .  As a special treat, the 2016 ceremony will feature a holiday performance by the Finger Lakes Singing Ensemble and a special visitor who comes every year.  The Lighting of the tree will be at 6:30 PM.

Downtown Elmira will be decorated with holiday spirit in time for the Diamond celebration 60th Annual Downtown Elmira Holiday Parade on Friday, November 25th at 10:00am.  The parade is sponsored by Community Bank, NA.  

After the parade, Friday, November 25th, the Elmira Jackals and the Chemung County Youth Bureau Proudly Present: SKATE WITH SANTA.  From 11:00am -1:00pm @ the First Arena, FREE Skating, FREE  pictures with Santa, FREE hot chocolate, Free holiday arts/crafts, and Free face-painting. 

On Saturday, November 26th from 10:00-12:00 – Chemung Valley History Museum will present Breakfast with Santa with partner, The Park Church - Come enjoy breakfast with Santa. Christmas ornament decorating, and caroling. Tickets – Adults $10.00 & Kids $5.00 (all proceeds go to CVHM)
This event has been cancelled.

In addition, Elmira Downtown is hosting a Downtown Holiday Window Decorating Contest – a fun way to celebrate the Holidays, downtown businesses will create a festive and beautiful downtown, which will attract visitors to downtown Elmira, and showcase their business. The contest will run from now until November 22nd with judging held on December 9th.   So take a look at the windows during the festivities.
