News“County Supply of Whooping Cough Vaccine for Adults Exhausted” Thursday, August 09, 2012 ![]() ELMIRA – The Chemung County Health Department announced today they have exhausted their supply of Tdap, the vaccine for whooping cough, for adults 19 years of age and older. The County does still have Tdap vaccine for children 18 years of age and under. The Tdap vaccine is required in New York State for children entering 6th grade. The vaccine is available for children at their regular immunization clinics as well as by appointment. The remaining clinics which will be held before school starts are: • Tuesday, August 21st from 1pm – 3:30pm All clinics are held at the Chemung County Health Center located at 103 Washington Street in Elmira. No appointments are necessary for the above listed clinics. Parents are asked to bring previous vaccination records if available. In addition to the regularly scheduled clinics, the Health Department will offer immunizations by appointment for required vaccinations for school children only. To schedule an appointment call the Health Department at 737-2028. All appointments will be made Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm only. No evening or weekend appointments will be scheduled.
