ELMIRA – New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG) has closed the dry ice and bottled water distribution site at the Ernie Davis Middle School.

The distribution site at the NYSEG offices located at 1 Electric Drive in Horseheads will remain open until 8pm this evening. 

The State of Emergency in the City of Elmira will be lifted effective 6pm this evening.

Andy Avery, Chemung County/City of Elmira Department of Public Works Commissioner reminds residents to move their vehicles from the streets throughout the County in the affected areas so crews and their trucks can have access to the debris for pick-up. Also, motorists are asked to use extreme caution driving in the areas where debris is piled up causing limited visibility. Keep a watchful eye out for children and vehicles which may be entering the roadway.
