Elmira — C TRAN (formerly Chemung County Transit), will add runs for Route #7 Shopper Shuttle and adjust service times for Route #20 Elmira-Corning from May 14 to August 24th. The temporary pilot program will affect Monday through Friday service only.

The Route #7 Free Shopper Shuttle currently provides a 30-minute shuttle loop from the Arnot Mall Door #4 to The Shops at Chambers, Consumer Square, Big Flats Commons, Southern Tier Crossing, and back to the Arnot Mall. The pilot service will add five additional trips Monday-Friday, with the last run departing the Arnot Mall at 9:30 pm and returning at 9:55 pm.

Route #20 Elmira-Corning will adjust the current service to provide express service Monday to Friday to employers in Airport Corporate Park, leaving downtown Elmira at 6:15 am, 2:15 pm, and 10:20 pm. The bus will depart DeMets and Airport Corporate Park at 7:10 am, 3:10 pm, and11:10 pm.

This additional service is being funded in part with Federal transit funding targeted specifically to support transit services to and from work. Through the coordination efforts of the Chemung County mobility manager, a bus route to DeMets Candy Factory began in June of 2011. C TRAN and area employment partners have been working together to continue successful bus ridership to DeMets. The pilot of additional Shopper Shuttle service is targeted to area retail employees.
