“Limited Number of Farmer’s Market Coupon Booklets Still Available for Eligible Seniors”

ELMIRA – The Chemung County Department for Aging and Long Term Care has a limited number of NYS Senior Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program coupons left for distribution to eligible seniors. The $20 coupon booklet can be used at New York State farmer’s markets only.
“The County has distributed more than 500 coupons booklets over the last two weeks,” said Kent Goben, Chemung County Dept. of Aging and LTC Nutrition Services Coordinator. “We currently have only 37 booklets remaining but I have asked the State to provide us with additional booklets if they are available.”
Booklets will only be distributed to Chemung County residents at 60 years of age or older who also meet the following requirements:
1- Monthly income must be at or below these amounts:
2- And currently receiving or eligible to receive at least one of the following: SSI, food stamps, public assistance, or Section 8 housing subsidy.
To receive a coupon booklet, call the Chemung County Department for Aging and Long Term Care at 737-5520 to schedule an appointment. Booklets will be distributed on a first-come first-serve basis while supplies last. The coupons will only be distributed directly to the eligible senior. When the final booklet is disbursed a waiting list will be maintained in the event additional booklets are received from the State.
Booklets are limited to one per household, one per season.
