Stormwater Demonstration Area located along the side of the Conservation Cabin at the Chemung County Fairgrounds, coordinated by the Stormwater Team, was completed with the help of Boy Scouts from Troop 43, Pine City as an Eagle Scout project of Cody Vohees who worked on the Rain Garden.  The rest of the area was completed with the help of the Chemung County Conservation District.

The Chemung County Stormwater Coalition
was formed in 2002 to address the Phase II Construction Permit requirements for the MS4's in Chemung County.  The chair for the coalition is Andy Avery, P.E. from the Chemung County-City of Elmira Public Works Department; the Co-Chair is Paul Kingsbury from the Town of Elmira. The Outreach/Education Coordinator is Diane Fiorentino; she can be reached at (607) 796-2216.

Contractors, before doing any work or planning of development, please contact the Stormwater Officer  in the municipality where the construction activity will be taking place.

Construction Activity Training Sessions for Contractors and Developers dealing with Stormwater, Erosion and Sediment Control
These approved 4 hour training sessions are required for all companies working under NYSDEC's SPDES Stormwater Permit.

Please Note: Beginning on May 1, 2010 the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Construction Activity Permit, GP-0-10-001 requires all developers, contractors and subcontractors to identify at least one trained individual from their company who will be responsible for implementing the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan.  The individuals responsible for installing, constructing, repairing, maintaining or inspecting erosion and sediment control measures or constructing post-construction stormwater management practices at SPDES-permitted construction sites are required to attend this course every three years.

CPESC Review Course. The Chemung County Stormwater Coalition will be hosting a CPESC Review Course on Wednesday November 3, 2010.  The Instructor for the course will be Donald W. Lake, P.E., CPESC, CPSWQ.  Testing for Certification will be Friday November 5, 2010. CPESC is a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control.  Click here for more information on CPESC and for registration for the review and test.
