About the County Executive Tom Santulli was elected to the position of Chemung County Executive in November of 2000 after having served nearly ten years as the Deputy Executive. Tom was reelected to a four-year term in November 2002 and 2006. He was born in Elmira, New York in 1949 and is a graduate of Niagara University where he received a BA degree in 1971 and Elmira College where he earned a Masters Degree in 1975. Prior to becoming involved in the County Executive’s Office he served as an elected Elmira City Councilman from 1983-1991. His community involvement includes service as a member of the Chemung County Industrial Development Agency, Executive Committee of Southern Tier Economic Growth, Southern Tier Economic Development, Empire Development Zone, School Readiness Program Board, Executive Committee of Elmira Downtown Development, Chairman - Executive Transportation Committee, President - New York State Association of Counties, Past President - New York State County Executive’s Association, Chemung County Chamber of Commerce, Board of Trustees Wings of Eagles Discovery Center, Chairman - Chemung County Task Force on Medicaid Reform and Demonstration Project Implementation, Chemung County Shared Services Task Force, and Chairman, Southern Tier Central Regional Planning & Development Board. |
