Family/Farm City Day

                      Celebrate Chemung County Farm City Day, June 2nd

The tradition of celebrating local farms and their relationship with the residents of Chemung County continues this year at the 4th annual Chemung County Farm City Day, June 2nd at the Chemung County Fairgrounds located off of Exit 53 of Route 17/I86. This FREE community event will wrap up the 43rd year of Old McDonald’s Farm. The “farm” is open to the public Tuesday, May 29th to Friday, June 1st in the evening 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm and then on Farm City Day, Saturday, June 2nd from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. Free CTRAN bus tickets are available for Chemung County residents to use to get to Farm City Day. Tickets can be picked up at the CCE Chemung office in the Chemung County Human Resources Building, 425 Pennsylvania Ave, Elmira from 8:30am to 4:30 pm, Tuesday, May 29th to Friday, June 1st.

Farm City Day will include fun for the whole family including Local Agricultural Displays, Live Farm Animal Exhibits, Pedal Tractor Pull, Food, Hands on Activities, Kayak raffle, and a Pierogi sale, as well as Craft and Farm Vendors.  The Chemung Valley Regional Farmers’ Museum and the Conservation Building will be open to the public as well.  In addition, local musical entertainment will be provided by “Old McDonald” (aka Andy G. Fagan) from 10 to 11:30 am, Lukus Wells from noon to 1:30 pm, and Danny Maloney from 1:30 to 3:00 PM. Local dignitaries are invited to attend and will be provided time to speak from 11:30 to noon.  

Farm City day is organized by the Chemung County Agriculture Resource Group to help increase awareness, understanding, and appreciation of local food and agriculture.
