"Chemung County Celebrates Sheriff’s Week"

Chemung County- October 2nd – 8th, 2011 has been proclaimed Sheriffs’ Week by Governor Andrew Cuomo. Sheriffs’ Week highlights the role of County Sheriffs and recognizes the excellence of these public officers in serving the citizenry as a unique and vital part of municipal government. The Office of Sheriff was established in the state’s first Constitution and continued in every succeeding Constitution.

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office will be celebrating Sheriffs’ Week with
a display near Center Court at the Arnot Mall. The 175th Anniversary Vehicle will
be on display, as well as other historical items to celebrate this event. The display
will be manned by Deputy Sheriffs Monday, Thursday and Friday from 5:00 p.m. to
9:00 p.m.
