“Allegiant Air Takes Off For Orlando”

Big Flats – Allegiant Air will take off tomorrow with its inaugural flight from the Elmira Corning Regional Airport (ELM) to the Orlando Sanford International Airport.  The airport is located 18 miles northeast of Orlando, Florida and provides easy access to all Orlando area attractions. The 150-seat MD 80 jet will be leaving ELM at 10:20 am bringing passengers to the Sunshine State in time for an afternoon in the sun.

In celebration, the airport will be hosting a beach party complete with balloons, costumed children, and music from 8am to 10am including a live radio remote featuring Chris P. Bacon from 100.9 The Pig. Breakfast snacks will be provided by the airport restaurant DC-2.

Best of all, passengers won’t have to wait until they get to Florida to see Disney characters; Mickey Mouse and a few friends will be on hand as well, to send off the flight.

Tom Santulli, Chemung County Executive said, “We are happy to be able to provide this direct non-stop service to Florida for the residents of the Southern Tier. Allegiant Air is a welcome addition to our air service partners.”

Airport Manager Ann Crook added, “I can't think of a better way to celebrate the Holidays at the airport than by starting new direct service to Orlando."

As part of the inaugural festivities, Sabrina LoPiccolo, Allegiant Air public relations/promotions manager will be making a special announcement at 9am.

Allegiant Air offers flights to Orlando twice weekly with service on Thursday and Sunday. Flights depart Elmira Corning Regional Airport at 10:20 am arriving in Orlando Sanford International Airport at 12:55 pm. Flights leaving Orlando depart at 7 am arriving in Elmira at 9:40 am.

At Allegiant, all travel is ticketless, all fares are one-way and a Saturday night stay is never required. With a focus on leisure travel, the company emphasizes low-fares, non-stop flights, and through their affiliate Allegiant Vacations, attractive and affordable complete vacation packages including roundtrip air and three-night hotel stay for as low as $241.
