“Local TSA Employees Commemorate Earth Day at Airport”
(Updated 4/23/08 with Photos)

Big Flats- Local employees of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will be planting a tree tomorrow at the airport in honor of Earth Day. TSA employees provide airport security at checkpoints at our nations' airports.

“I think this is a wonderful way for the TSA officers to show their support for the community, the passengers who use our Airport, and the Earth,” said Ann Crook, Elmira Corning Regional Airport Manager.

Earth Day was first celebrated in 1970 which also marks the forming of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), an agency created by President Richard Nixon to protect the environment and public health.

The tree will be planted at 9:00 am near the bus stop at the airport entrance.
