County Accepting Applications for Non-Ambulatory Bow Hunters at Park Station

ERIN – Chemung County Buildings and Grounds Department announces they will be accepting applications for non-ambulatory hunters to bow hunt at Park Station.  The program allows for up to 4 archery hunters with a physical disability who are unable to move about without the use of a mechanized aid to hunt for deer with a bow or crossbow at Park Station during the final two weeks of archery season (Saturday, November 4 through Friday, November 17, 2017).  Park Station will be closed to the general public during this two week archery season.

Applications will be accepted beginning Monday, August 7, 2017, through Monday, September 18, 2017. Click here for a copy of the application.

Applicants must be New York State residents who possess a valid New York State hunting license with bow hunting privileges. Also, applicants should have a New York State non-ambulatory hunter permit issued by the DEC. If the hunter does not have this type of permit they must provide a signed certification from their license physician certifying they are non-ambulatory.

Each non-ambulatory County-permit hunter must be accompanied at all times while in Park Station by an ambulatory person eighteen years of age or older who will assist the hunter. This person must also possess a valid New York State hunting license.
