“I-86 Coalition to Attend State Conference”

Elmira – Former Chemung County Legislator and Chairman of the I-86 Coalition, Ted Bennett will be attending the New York State Association of Counties 2016 Fall Seminar.  Ted will occupy a booth providing information and support promoting the upgrading of NY RT 17 to the Interstate 86 designation to officials from throughout the State.  The Seminar is being held in Niagara Falls, September 19-21, 2016.

Bennett has been committed to the project since its inception and will be displaying a letter of support from 1991 written by then Senator Daniel P. Moynihan.  I-86, when the projects to upgrade NY 17 are completed, will extend from I-90 near Erie, Pennsylvania to the New York State Thruway in Woodbury, NY. “Completion of the interstate will provide a major economic boost for the regions along the Southern Tier, Western New York, and the Hudson Valley and will attract substantial growth in business and industry as well as tourism,” said Bennett.  “Delaying completion of I-86 means lost economic development opportunities and affects safety along the route,” added Bennett.
