“Avery Appointed to National Board”

Elmira – Andrew P. Avery, PE, Chemung County Commissioner of Public Works, was recently installed as the National Association of County Engineers (NACE) Board Director from New York State. Avery was selected by the New York State County Highway Superintendents Association (NYSCHSA) on behalf of the 57 NYS County Highway Superintendents and Commissioners.  The installation took place at the NACE 2016 Annual Meeting/Management & Technical Conference which was held April 24-28 in Tacoma, Washington.

“I am humbled to represent Chemung County, New York State, and NYSCHSA on the Board of Directors for NACE, the National Association of County Engineers,” said Avery.  “NACE and NYSCHSA work hand in hand to ensure the safety, reliability, and continued funding of our nation’s highway and bridge system.  Serving the interests of New York’s counties at the national level will be both a challenge and an honor.  Meeting and working with my peers from across the United States is a great opportunity to learn from the men and women who have paved the way forward.”  added Avery.

The National Association of County Engineers is a nonprofit, nonpartisan professional association in their 6th decade representing the voice America depends on for safe, efficient county roads and bridges. Local roads account for about 75% of our nation’s highways and roads, and over 231,000 bridges are owned by counties. NACE is comprised of nearly 2,000 county engineers, road managers and related professionals in the US and Canada.
