"Sheriff’s Office Collects Over 1,800 lbs. of Expired Medication During Take Back Event"
The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office took part in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) Nationwide prescription Drug “Take Back” Initiative on
Saturday, April 30, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event was successful in assisting residents in properly discarding their expired medications.
A total of 1847 lbs. of expired medication was collected.
At the Southport Volunteer Fire Department, 245 people came to the location
with 807 lbs. of medication collected.
At the West Elmira Volunteer Fire Department location, 318 people brought in
1,040 lbs. of medication. The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Southport and West Elmira Fire Departments for their continued support.
